I’m not sure what the temperature is like where you live, but here in the North East it is COLD! In the boys’ opinion, a deep freeze is perfect for some snuggles and of course, a few extra snacks!
If you’ve been following our adventures in raw feeding, you likely have seen many Nature’s Variety Instinct Reviews of late. Harley and Charlie have been eating Instinct Raw for close to 6 months now and the results have been fantastic! Whether you are able to feed raw/grain-free, or not, making healthy choices in the treats that you supplement your dog’s diet with is easy and inexpensive!
Recently, we found out that the Nature’s Variety Instinct line also includes several treat options! As you can imagine, the boys (and I) were pretty excited! In a flash we were in the car and on our way to PetSaver SuperStore (our favorite local pet store) to pick some up.
Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost Treats
These 4oz boxes of freeze dried treats come in 3 flavors – Chicken, Beef, and Lamb. All three varieties are all natural and completely raw! When presented with so many good options, it was hard to pick just one. We ended up choosing the lamb formulation since it is the main protein source in their food. Phew..that narrowed it down a bit!
As they always do before eating something new, the boys insisted on checking the ingredient label first.
Lets take a look at the top ingredients in order:
- Lamb
- Lamb Heart
- Lamb Liver
- Pumpkinseeds
- Apples
- Carrots
- Ground Lamb Bone
I won’t bore you with the full list, but I’ll tell you this…you won’t find anything questionable. These treats are free of wheat, corn, soy, grain and gluten. There are also no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. In fact, the only thing you will find are all natural, raw, freeze-dried ingredients (most of which can probably be found in your kitchen right now)!
Sounds good, right?
All this sitting around…Guess I will help myself!
Enough talk…lets open them up!
Because the moisture content is reduced, freeze dried treats are sometimes prone to crumbling. This was NOT the case with the Raw BOOST treats. Upon opening the package we found that it contained only full size medallions! The packaging is purposeful and plays a role in keeping these tasty treats in one piece. Not only is there a cardboard case but an inner, zipper sealed pouch to keep these treats fresh for the long haul (not that they will be around for long!).
The treats are similar in size to the Instinct Raw Medallions that we reviewed recently, but very much have the fibrous texture of the RawBOOST pieces that are in our Nature’s Variety Instinct Kibble. The treats are firm without being hard, crunchy or chewy…they almost seemed to melt in the dog mouths! For all of our figure conscious friends out there, you will be happy to know that breaking these treats in half or quarters was a snap (well, really more of a break, but I was trying to be clever).
Time for a Taste!
As far as taste goes, I would say its all paws up. Though these two goobers eat their daily food with gusto, and I know that they are not picky eaters, they do ramp up the enthusiasm when they really enjoy a treat. This was one such instance! Charlie followed me around the house, performing many of the tricks in his still growing repertoire in hopes that I might take pity and give him….Just…One….More!!
OK, I might have caved. But how can you say no to these faces?
Why MyDogLikes Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Boost Treats
Overall, these treats were a huge hit and one that we would definitely recommend! We absolutely love the all natural ingredients and clearly the boys loved the taste. The smell was not offensive at all but clearly enough to get them going and let them know that they are being rewarded. Nature’s Variety also offers several other forms of both freeze dried and biscuit dog treats and you can bet we will be trying them out soon!
We don’t do raw, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting to try these out! The world is based on chicken and beef, so we would choose the lamb for something different. They sure sound tasty even though they are so healthy.
Definitely worth trying our Emma! Its a nice way to supplement any diet, they are so healthy!! I think you would love the lamb!
Oh WOW. Those look delicious! My foster brother, Hunter, came with some Instinct brand dog food. If the treats are anything like the food, I’d gobble that up, package and all! You guys look like you loved it- I’ll take your word for it! 🙂
Sounds like there is a story here Sadie…Did you eat all of Hunter’s treats (bag and all)!? Silly girl!
Yummy! I think I’ve mentioned before that we’ve only tried these as cat treats. Shiner is wondering where hers are?!
Tell Shiner we might have some extras to spare because she is sooooo cute!!
Those treats look awesome!! 😀
Thanks for checking out the review Lauren! I think the girls would love them!
We’ve tried the Instinct Raw Munchies & the pups loved them ~ I loved the fact that they were less than 5 calories per treat! We’ve received 2 $1 off coupons via e-mail from Instinct Raw Boost so far…it’s worth to sign up with them 🙂
Absolutely! We check in pretty often and get their newsletter for savings too! Also, our local independent store has lots of promotions going on regularly. I think many smaller stores do this!
Those look and sound amazing! Harley would love the chicken – thanks!
Our Harleys have similar tastes 🙂 Thanks for stopping in!
Looks like a YUMMY treat and size is pawfect for your guys. ENJOY!!! Happy Tasty Tuesday. Golden Woofs
Thank you Sugar! They love them so much! We are so glad that you stopped by!
Snuggle up with some tasty treats – good way to beat the cold.
They are crazy, they like to snuggle a bit, but still go on walks!
