Dog Toy Reviews

KONG Braidz, Large

MyDogLikes reviews the KONG Braidz - a plush tug toy from KONG!

What dog doesn’t love a good tugging match?  And what owner for that matter? There is really no better way to get your dog all riled up and bring out that puppy in them.  It took us quite some time to find an adequate tug toy for Harley.  We started off with a couple of rope toys, which he loved, but also loved to chew and eat!  We moved on to the plethora of rubber stretchy toys available, but quickly became aware of Harleys strange aversion to anything plastic or rubber.  When we stumbled across our first Kong Braidz, it was a holiday edition on clearance so we decided that it was worth a shot!

Product Description

Kong Braidz are constructed of a braided fleece body, with small stuffed appendages.  They come in a variety of animal species including giraffes, monkeys tigers and zebras.  They are also available in 3 different sizes (between 8″ and 16″ in length), making them perfect for any breed of dog.

Product Review

Kong Braidz are designed for tugging, and they handle this task extremely well.  This toy is surprisingly strong and can withstand some pretty serious play.  You will quickly notice that this toy can stretch to more than twice its length during play, allowing for all kinds of twisting and pulling fun.  Your dog will not only love to tug this toy, but shake it as well.  Additionally, the soft material makes it ideal for carrying around the house and cuddling.

It should be noted that this is not really a chew toy, and if your dog is prone to destroying stuffed animals they will likely do the same with the Kong Braidz.  If this is a concern however, I would simply leave the Braidz for supervised playtime with you.

Final Thoughts

We were very impressed with the Kong Braidz.  While we purchased this toy with little expectation, it soon became one of our favorites.  In fact we have given them to several other dog friends as gifts.  This toy is much stronger than it looks and can withstand significant tugging force.  While tough for its intended use, bear in mind that this is not meant to be a chew toy. I feel very confident in recommending the Kong Braidz for all types and sizes of dogs.
